This Battlefield Opens at 2AM
A red sign that says checks cashed 24/7 reflects in the grease of the gutters.
He walks with one hand in his coat pocket and the other hand, the other hand snaps rhythmically.
He passes an out of order ATM. Snap.
He passes the laundromat glowing with a rancid pale blue light. Snap.
He stops in front of the homeless man spread across the sidewalk. Snap.
Nodding his head, the homeless man grins and says the word "Snap." Snap.
"Could you spare a quarter?" Snap.
"I was here to catch that bus." Snap.
"I think I had a wife once but I can't remember?" Snap, and the homeless man dissolves into the smoke.
Realizing what was happening to him he lets out one final wail.
Snap.
