Those discriminatory vampires.

Make meat too expensive for the average person to eat regularly is how I would ease the population off of meat, as well as creating or adjusting a culture around more vegetarian and vegan meals.

meat is only cheap in western world due to subsidies, simply get rid of subsidies for meat and quotas for veggies. People will automatically start going vegetarian.. If you don't believe me look at vegetarianism across the world and poverty rates (india is a stand out).

I posted this as a Omnivore and non affluent American getting by on just over a K a month at 68 yo but I would seriously consider vegetarianism but really eggs, milk, dairy and a bit of chicken is about the cheapest protein sources I can get. Even the affordable protein supplements for active adults come from Whey which is dairy. I guess my avoidance of red meat is the best at this point but I do beans and peppers too more for protein. A bit of tuna fish too.
In America it's hard to wean ourselves from animal sources just as it's so cheap. Eggs for example are packed with protein.
