Aspire
What does honor and dignity
Do for the afterlife?
Nobody knows.
Yet, is it still worth grasping?
I'd like to think it makes me
The kind of guy I'd like to be.
Others say I'm missing out,
Because I'm not breaking character.
My character is this;
Who I choose to be
Is a man of patience and wisdom.
A man who doesn't get what he wants
But all that he deserves.
A man who sees love beyond sex
Stability beyond the money
And respect beyond the fame
Rather than a roof over my head,
sturdy walls keep in place;
Makes it harder to topple.
The players can see your pieces,
But they won’t see you move.
The public seeks to balance
Their insecurities with your success.
Once again, I fall in line.
Vicariously living life through cellular eyes.
Another day, another time.
I will find my place in mind.
