Summary:

NOTE: Amazon is experiencing heavy traffic (Due to Prime Day's start). Multiple users ITT have mentioned delays in purchases and erroneous "Wrong Password" when trying to buy lapis.

That’s a good thing for EX points right? Since we get the full non discounted EX point value and get refunded the Coins.

You should get the full EX points! The discount is shown as a promotion on the receipt, deducted from the full purchase price. The client sees it as the full price too, so I don't know how the EX points counter would ever know.

I'm doing my purchases tomorrow to make sure there's no server wonkiness, but I'm sure someone can confirm.

Can confirm. Used amazon coins to save 20%, then 25% on top for lapis. So I spent about $60 on the 18k lapis pack and got 100 EX points.

I did it. Here is what happened.

I am a USA buyer.

Purchased in app.

Vault of Lapis Bundle showed $99.99

Then showed 9,999 Amazon Coins.

However, they only deducted 7,499 Amazon coins from my account.

EDIT: I was able to do this multiple times.

Amazon will sometimes "freeze" your account if the same purchase is made over and over. Like a "cooldown".

Keep in mind that there may be cash bundles throughout the year that offer a better deal than 25% off lapis.

Still, Amazon already does a ~20% discount on coins regularly(at least in Spain), plus the 25% makes it a 40% discount effectively

Yeah. Kind of hard to say 'no' to this. It just seems less painful if I spend $300 over 6 months rather than in 1 evening.

Also, i'm so bad at not spending everything I have on me. This 100k lapis will probably not last as long as it would if I spread out the purchases. Oh well... when in Paladia....

Wow, Amazon Coins are 21% off the $100 bundle right now (US).

Does that mean you can effectively buy lapis for nearly 40% off?

Edit - Just checked in-game (Amazon) and the lapis bundles have discounted Amazon Coin prices. They do stack!

Edit 2 - I think this is by far the best non-bundle lapis deal we've ever had.

Edit 3 - Amazon Prime Card 3% cashback should also apply.

I just bought the bundle with 9999 coins in US, 7499 after purchase. I can confirm coins work.

Let's start off by saying what you typically do is buy lapis at retail value.

You buy $100 of coins for $79.

You then buy the 18k lapis bundle for $75 worth of coins, or 3/4 of what you paid. So you spend 3/4 * $79 = $59 on the 18k bundle, and still have $25 of coins left over.

With the $25, you can buy 3200 (for $16) + 1500 (for $7.50) + 2x 120 (for $0.75 each) smaller lapis bundles, for 4940 lapis with the remainder.

22940 lapis total for $79, or 290 lapis per dollar. Whereas in the typical $100 purchase, you get 18000 lapis for $100, or 180 lapis per dollar. That's more like 38% off.

Of course, you're smarter than that on both sides. You should make all your game purchases either via amazon coins or discounted gift cards already, offering a similar discount if you shop for them. And you probably don't want to buy all the small bundles, necessarily. So evaluating just on the discount, you're only getting 1.33 lapis per 100 coins, which is bad relative to the standard bundle metrics but really good for the whales.

Sadly for the whales though, the $500 worth of coins bundle is slightly higher than it usually is at $390. Although not high enough to prevent them from taking advantage of the lapis discounts.

21% off a $100 coin bundle on Amazon is pretty rare. And this time it happens to coincide with a further discount. The $100 bundle is typically only 10% or so off.

That is not how amazon coins work. This is 25% off the price of the bundles themselves, irrespective of the discount you got when buying coins.

When I install the app it prompts me to download the game even though I already have it (installed through playstore), and I'm afraid it would overwrite my game (can this even happen?). Did you install the game again through the amazon app or is the purchase made entirely via the webpage?

From the sounds of it, yeah. However this looks like a simple copy/paste of terms they put on all the games with prime discounts. Haven't tested it yet myself.

Quick edit: The offer never mentions coins at all. Looks like it may work even without coins not that it would be efficent.

You get taxed when you use them. So for 9,999 purchase I needed an additional 800 coins for tax. So you need 10,800 coins in order to make the purchase, but then you will get the discount on your final receipt.

Fair point. If you buy every bundle with discounted Amazin Coins then this is only a 133% value.

But Amazon Coins aren't always discounted at 21% (for the $100 pack). Chances are this 25% FFBE discount will be the first time many players purchase Amazon Coins. In which case this is a 169% value.

Yes, and I'm glad you said this as I'm getting the same problem.

Amazon's site is getting hammered right now, so no real surprise. And it appears rather than an "invalid" password, it's just timing out.

I tried testing it by buying the $0.99 little bundle with the 200 lapis and 5 king cactuars to see if I got a discount. Didnt get anything...I'm confused now

Bundles do not have the discount, it's only for basic Lapis-only packs when you go through the Shop button -> Lapis.

Yes. I really really don't want to plug Amazon Prime, but if you buy stuff off of Amazon in semi-frequent manner, it's probably not a bad deal.

My wife pays for the subscription, but I get her Prime benefit on my Amazon account too. It's nice that the membership can be shared without having to use a single account.

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Unlike other Prime benefits, the 25% FFBE Discount does not extend to family members of the Prime Account holder (even though my entire Amazon account is labeled with the term 'Prime' just like my wife's account and even though I got other Prime Day stuff today using my own account). I was not discounted/refunded Amazon Coins at checkout. Oh well. I only wasted a few bucks. Still, is too bad it isn't more clear.

EDIT EDIT: Heh. I found it buried really deep in the Prime help pages: "Prime Music, Prime Reading, the exclusive discount on video games, and purchased video subscriptions are not sharable."
