June 17th

I wrote this while still giddy after a perfect day, I hoped to convey that feeling. I'm aware the tempo is a little off in some places, but happy for any critique! :)

 

What other manner could I reach the sky,

But to hold you tight and to lift you high?

I did just that and felt you nuzzle;

The love was here, that was no puzzle.

I asked you quietly, was it just me?

The answer was no, emphatically.

One cautious kiss, placed on your cheek;

Your smile just gentle, so faint, so meek.

I pulled you closer to blend our edges;

A heady rush on unsteady ledges.

Okay, you said, as you pulled away;

I pulled you back in without delay.

Wrapping you up and yours arms round me,

Falling, floating, out into the sea.

Patience paid off: ten months? A year?

A kiss we’d ached for, a kiss so dear.

Didn’t you feel like it was worth the wait?

Smiles on our faces, the change in our gait?

Give me an hour, give me a lifetime;

Give me great valleys and mountains to climb;

I could travel the world seeking high and low,

Wouldn't learn more than what there is to know:

That I'd never dream up a more perfect way,

To show how I want you, on this day of days.
