Wrote this for my ma not a poet by any metric, Grandpas a great man and will be missed.
At night as I lay
When my mind is free at last
To the edge of all that’s known
I let it drift with sail at full mast
I breath in forever
I exhale the past
As it makes its way through eternity
Tho I know that it won’t last
It settles on a place in time
Like dew on the morning grass
The white noise has faded
a creek and then a groan
In that moment I realize
I will never be alone
Because before I never knew
What so clearly I know now
Every time I heard that noise
Woke to that old familiar sound
It wasn’t just my grandpa
A life of love just sat down
