A spontaneous poem in English by an unsure French person
Round is this planet, and it revolves around the Sun.
From solstice to equinox
Controlled burns and forest fires
Sweet strawberries
Memories of peaches and tears
Are fading.
As the streets smell of chestnut
And the woods fill with mushrooms
And my pots bubble up with hot pumpkin soup.
Bare is this planet, as it revolves around the Sun.
Down with the leaves in a last flash of color
Before greys and browns take over
So that nothing pulls your gaze away
From the pearl colored skies
Of Autumn.
All hail the new season
A quarter of a revolution
Has passed.
And that realization
Comes as emancipation
At last.
Because that girl crossed the Styx
And came back
Forever altered by the black water
And yet
Round was the planet that still revolved around the Sun.
