My Master Sent Me
to investigate a crime scene.
Broken glass fragments of a shattered mind
on the floor, in a shape like an S,
a fist in one hand and a snake in the other.
Horrific. Landfill atrocity of a
decolorized sensational hope,
extinguished and murdered.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
My master sent me here.
It was an emergency call.
No time to fix my white wings,
or to ask of what worries there would be.
I act on command:
a scandal, scrutinized, I attack
and attack for vengeance for his fallen ones.
Love, my master said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My master sent me. I did not go on my own.
He prepared the medics and the cryers.
My master sent me and I saw the boy:
No more than seventeen, red burns
On skin upon skin, surrounded by four pale walls
Echoing their near defeat.
Can’t breathe.
Act now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My master sent me with soap and a bucket,
and a medical doctrine. “OCD?” I’ve heard of it.
A level 3 on the Richter scale
(echoing the blazed short slices of the mind).
Salvation will never arrive on this rabies-diseased animal.
No amount of medics can shock the shock away.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But my master sent me here with hope,
a three-minute procedure for a seven-minute cacophonous deed.
Self-harm, my master watches from far above,
the culprit from far below
the surface. My master sent me. Bang! The boy is shaking.
Bits of bruises on his body,
tears tearing his tinted soul,
shallow cuts of desperation
to cease the bloodthirsty voices that intrude
and create the terrible scene! Bang! I watch
without warning, despite being warned.
It stretches, reaches past barriers.
An infinite panic attack.
He’ll never come out of it alive.
Bang! It’s over.
There he is, half-dead, hanging onto a white finger.
The snake slithers away.
Silence fills the air.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My master sent me.
A Job disposition,
a broken glass addition,
a shaking sensation.
I wrap him up until he awakes.
No words, my master cannot see past his tears.
