How old is this? And what seasons do jades normally grow in? I got a jade this spring and it seems to be growing incredibly slow.
I'm new to posting on Reddit, I kind of answered this question above, but not sure how notifications work and if you'll see it. So here's a repeat. I'm in just about the perfect succulent growing climate on the east coast of Australia. Believe it or not she was taken as a large cutting from a very large jade about 18 months ago. She has grown like crazy ever since at least doubling in size and I've taken at least a dozen large cuttings too. Our climate is similar to Southern CA, but with much higher humidity. The plant sits in a protected courtyard and gets all day winter sun and more shade in the summer months.
This is beautifulllll!
What a beauty! Did you prune her to get full looking leaves/branches at the top? I have some money plants but they’re spread out. Not sure if it’s just because of it’s age tho
I was so lucky that my friend has a an enormous jade plant and she gave me a large cutting, so it already had the long branches. But, yes I prune away any low sprouting so and propagate them.
I'll see if I can find a photo from early January, It's amazing how much she's grown.
This gorgeous jade, Crassula Ovata, sits at my front door. I call her mother because almost all of the jades I've propagated have come from her. She sits at my front door because Feng Shui says that this will invite money into the house, I'm still waiting to see if it works.
How long has it been there? I say this as money has a standing invitation to come into our house (no signs yet) and they grow extremely well where I live. I once painted a funny wall bright orange (for similar Feng Shui purposes) and inherited a wonderful lump of money unexpectedly within a month.
I'm in a great climate for growing succulents on the east coast of Australia. She was given to me as a house warming present just a year ago and has grown like crazy ever since, at least doubling in size in that time, plus I've taken more than a dozen good size cuttings from her. She was originally taken as a large cutting from a much larger jade only a few months before I got her.
She's beautiful! My jade mother is planted in the money corner of my yard for Feng Shui (happy to see someone else think of FS planting as well) :D
I also have mirrors that face outwards at my front door, to deflect bad people/things. I have done this for the last 5 years, I'm extremely skeptical, normally logical, but I wasn't game to test fate so the mirrors were one of the first things unpacked when we moved.
