Parking near the metro to get to the airport

I normally get public transport the entire way, but getting the metro then a bus ends up being an ordeal of up to an hour.

Is there anywhere you guys might recommend to park, such as a quiet unpermitted residential street? I was thinking maybe Fawdon, but wondering if there are other options.

Callerton Parkway? Just one stop from the airport plus parking there seems to be cheap.

It's not even worth waiting for the metro from Callerton Parkway either, it's less than a ten minute walk to the terminal.

It’s £1 for the whole day! Free after 5pm (I think) and free on sundays (If I remember correctly).

You get the metro then a bus to the airport? Where do you live??

Badly explained. That's the return trip! Bus to central then metro, on the way in.

Ah right, makes a lot more sense. Guess you live out west of the city then? As someone said, Callerton Parkway is a decent shout. There’s also the big Tesco somewhere along the green line you could probably park at.

Which would be fine for a few hours, but I want to be utter scum and avoid using expensive airport parking for a long weekend!

Unlucky mate, if I had any I’d let you use my off-road parking aha.

Tesco is limited to 90 minutes or something parking.

I’ve parked on the main road in Fawdon for that very reason before. However my car is an old banger, are you OK leaving it there? There are a couple of car parks, one is a big Aldi car park, the other is hidden behind the old row of shops on the other side of the metro line. Both as close as you can get to the station without your car actually being hit by a Metro, but I was unsure about the security, it's pretty obvious you've left your car for a few days IYSWIM? Hence why I chose the main road. Kingston Park and Bank foot are a no go because you'll get a ticket, but at least you won't have that problem with Fawdon.

I'd recommend justpark, its like airbnb for parking. You can easily find quiet places for much cheaper than car parks.

£30 gave me 2 weeks with a 2 minute tram journey from edinburgh airport.

Just about any suburb outside of the city centre near a metro. I live near Northumberland Park, nice area, no permits needed to park up and you can jump straight on the metro to the airport. Avoid Jesmond and byker. Jesmond is all permit only and I know plenty of people who've had their cars broken into around byker.

There's a metro station at the airport, am I missing something?
