In Search of the Perfect Pants

Ok everybody, I’m stumped. I am trying to find a new pair of Paintball pants to upgrade to, but I’m really struggling to find a pair that meet all of my (perhaps too picky) criteria.

First off I love my current pair of old school invert pants but they are super heavy and a little too warm to play in now that I have moved down south. Therefore I’m trying to find a pair of pants that has my favorite features from the invert pants, in a light weight package. The features are as follows.

  1. crotch padding
  2. zippered pockets
  3. velcro cinching that runs the length of the pants
  4. durable
  5. machine washable

I also play with slide shorts, light gym shorts, and then the pants over that so I would prefer a pair that could help keep everything as cool and ventilated as possible.

Any help you all could give me for suggestions would be hugely appreciated, thanks!

I am confused by " 3) velcro cinching that runs the length of the pants".

I have always been a fan of Exalt soft goods, the T4 pants are nice.

Sorry, I should have made that one more clear. On some pants there are cinching straps in addition to belt loops. Some versions only have a small strip of soft side velcro on the waist that you can attach the strap to. The old ones I have and some that I am looking at, have soft side velcro that runs all the way around the waist so you could cinch the pants down really tight even if they were too big.

Hope that clarifies it, thanks for the suggestion! The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of with the T4s was that they didn’t have a zippered opening. Have you found the drawstrings to be ok to deal with?

Ah that makes much more sense I under stand. I use an old belt with the belt loops.

The pants you want remind me a lot of an old pair of eclipse pants I had. The new eclipse pants are really nice but out of my budget when I bought new pants.

FYI ansgear.com does good videos of soft goods and explains the different features.

Drawstrings are just fine. I had T3s (and use T4s as of right now) and never had a problem with them. If you want the velcro cinch, the Dye Core (C14s) are solid. Only criterion of yours it won't meet is zippered pockets (velcro'd instead), but they're generally well liked by those I know who own them.

Social makes some awesome pants that have just about all of that including mesh on the back of the calves to let air in. I've got a pair and they're amazing!

Awesome, I will have to check them out!

2017 UNDR Recon pants would fit the bill, most likely.

I will have to look into them, thanks for the suggestion!
