i’m very perceptive. i pick up on
everything. give me a compliment –
i’ll tear it apart and find the malice
lurking beneath the flimsy surface.

an insult instead? it is what it is,
unless you left thoughts as thoughts
(you’re the worst thing to ever crawl
out of the ocean). i’m excellent at

seeing things – my vision’s without compare.
i see things that aren’t there, and i know that
i do, but i can’t tell them apart from
things that are there. i'll save us some time –

just give it to me straight (but not too straight).
what? i don’t need ‘help’ – i am what i am.
let me go on making jokes and small talk;
you can keep pretending i’m a person.
