Overposted images, "True DDOI", a new flair, a new bot and you!
Hello fellow fans of badly designed signs and similar!
-
As some of you may have already noticed, we introduced a list of overposted images. We removed about 150 (!) of posts from the list in the last week, it's insane. No one wants to see those anymore, it's really annoying. I'm happy to have noticed that the reaction to the introduction of this new list is positive (as far as I know at least). Together with the list we also introduced a new rule 3, so if you see anything that's on the list, please report it!
-
After gathering some feedback from you we recently made some changes to also allow for posts that aren't "True DDOI". A list of the different types and if they're allowed can you find in this new wiki page: Post Types. The change is also reflected in the new rule 1.
Here are some comments that seem to confirm that our decision in this matter is correct:
- "How about focusing on images which are actually confusing than ones which follow the format but read fine"
- "I fear that "Each side must have the same amount of words" will be too limiting."
- "I don't think needing to follow the DDOI format is neccesary."
- "To be honest, that's a really dumb rule that prevents us from seeing a lot of quality content that's obviously in the spirit of the sub."
-
If you only like DDOI, don't worry! To also keep the spirit of the sub we introduced a "True DDOI" flair. Only real true DDOI will get this flairs (again: see the new wiki article for the different kinds of posts). We also added a filter for this kind of posts to the sidebar, so if you're only interested in true DDOI, you can use this to filter out the other posts.
-
You may also have noticed our new bot. This bot will help you and us to keep everything flaired correctly. Upvote the bot comment if the post is a real [true DDOI] (https://www.reddit.com/r/dontdeadopeninside/wiki/post_types#wiki_type_1.3A_true_ddoi) and downvote if it's not. Report the post instead if it does break any of the rules.
PLEASE read the wikipage and make yourself familiar to what true DDOI is and what is not, otherwise the bot is useless!
I hope you enjoy these new ideas. See you around!
EDIT: fixed typo

That's 21.43 images per day
I like the new bot idea, it's really useful
