So, Fire Emblem Tabletop RPGs
I'm a big fan of Fire Emblem as well as of tabletop rpgs such as D&D. Thus, naturally, I've asked myself the question: Would these two pair off well?
I've seen quite a few people have asked this question themselves, yielding more than one tabletop system using FE mechanics, classes and species (like the laguz and such) but... I believe that while these usually attempt to be very faithful to the source material in their mechanics, they seem to completely forgo the scale of FE games, with countries clashing their big armies and all. Instead the end product is sort of a D&D thing with each player controlling one character.
Also, while FE mechanics work pretty smooth when it's a machine running them, doing them with dice, pen and paper can be a hassle.
So I've been working for a few months on an FE system where you create a country (it's probably simpler than you might think) and then in-game you control that country's lord and their entourage. So, for instance, instead of creating Marth and then playing with him, you'd create Altea, then Marth, Jagen, Cain and Abel, and you'd control all of those guys. Player two could then control Caeda, Ogma and the axe boy squad after creating Talys, and then let's say a third player joins a little later, creating Aurelis, Hardin and the Wolfguard. Doesn't even have to be separate countries - you could have them be mostly independent territories united under an alliance, like the Lycian league, or even have two players controlling lords from the same country (like Ephraim and Eirika). Hell, you could even just make a band of mercenaries that another player then hires.
I've playtested a couple of iterations of this system with some friends to tweak it into being a little simpler - hopefully not losing depth, just making it wieldier.
Ultimately, my question is: Does this sound like something any of you would want to play? If enough people (like enough to form a campaign I guess) show interest, I'll make a proper(ish) guide for the system, and might run a campaign on roll20.
EDIT: I guess that's enough of a reaction. I'll be working on making a decent-ish guide now; I'll make another post once it's done, but until then I still have a little bit of fidgeting to do with it. Mainly, I'd like some feedback, so I've made a little Discord server for those interested in giving me their two cents on what they'd like on the system (My main doubt right now is regarding what magic triangle to use), as well as to hopefully get a group together later on. Thanks!
