Game/mouse feels laggy/jittery

Discussion

Downloaded the game, using 1600 dpi 0.675 sens, low on everything graphics wise constant +140 fps. When i move around it feels like it's 60 hz, mostly big mouse movements are jittery, if i stand still it looks decent.

The thing is if i turn vsync on, the feel is smooth, but i don't want input lag from vsync, also mouse filtering is on 0, anything I'm doing wrong?

The game uses a shitty console engine that handles mouse input very poorly. Nothing you can do about it but hope devs will fix it in the future.

"shitty console engine?" Elaborate please.

This game was outsourced to Saber, which is a devstudio known for low quality console games and casino gambling games (https://saber3d.com/games/casino-games/). QC also uses Sabers inhouse engine which is based on all their previous console games and clearly not suited to be used in a fast paced PC game.

Oh well gotta wait for diabotical then :/ I did play this really early beta though and didn't experience a problem (i think...)

Try uncapping your fps.

What is your monitor hz ? Also, 1600 dpi is crazy high - if you're making big moves at 1600 dpi on say a 60hz monitor whilst your GPU is trying to send 140 frame per sec with vsync trying to mediate between the two...then yeah I'd expect jitters.

144hz, and it's literally fine in every other fps games, and higher dpi should give less mouse jitter.

Erm, higher dpi increases the jitter, not decreases. But still the game is just badly written regarding mouse movement.

Having 1600 dpi should cause no problem at all, any gaming mouse nowadays can handle that perfectly, sensors are pretty good. I'd actually say it'd be better to have higher dpi than higher ingame sensitivity because the sensor can do math pretty well, games can't.

Like if you play on 10 sensitivity with 400 dpi in Quake Live, it's not smooth at all, lots of pixels are skipped and if you turn down sensitivity to 2.5 and get dpi to 1600, it's perfectly smooth again.

1600 dpi is a lot of screen movement for so little wrist/hand movement. Like one tiny wrist flick of the mouse will scroll your screen almost 360deg. That's a lot to keep track of and also extremely hard to refine aiming. But if that's what you're used to playing with, then fine I guess.

He's playing with 1600 dpi but has a really low sensitivity in game, 0.675 makes it like 2.7 with 400 dpi, it's about 38cm/360°, it's a very reasonable sensitivty. DPI alone does not mean anything.

1000 dpi 2 sens = 500 dpi 4 sens etc.

Make sure your actually using 120/144hz (if you have a monitor capable of this).

Some people have been having issues were their refresh rate is reset (only with qc) either by using a resolution that isn't supported or some driver bug.. -_-

FIXED! Found out QC had changed my windows settings??? Tried to play another game and noticed slow animations in windows. Changed it back to 144hz and now it works!

good to hear. :)

How do I force 144hz in qc?

Usually its enough to just tab out and go into the screen settings in windows and set it again.

You could try running in fullscreen borderless and see if that helps...

Make sure first what refreshrate your screen is running at so you aren't messing with things for no reason, usually that stuff can be found in the monitors settings/menu.

Nope, it actually feels more smooth locked at 60fps, but still garbage. Tried everything, only thing that makes it feel smooth is vsync, but there's horrible input lag :/

Also in the main menu when queueing, the animations look smooth on the characters, but the moment the map loads it feels off.

Using freesync/gsync ?

Try locking to 120hz...feels smoother than 144

The problem is vsync. Frame delivery is inconsistent in this engine once vsync is off. In-game limiter won't help. The only smooth way for me to play is vsync/gsync off and infinite fps in the engine fps limiter. It then doesn't stutter as much.
