NY, I’m visiting! I want to explore your food, dive bars, snacks and music scene

Hello NY! I’m only going for a short period on work but will have most evenings free plus Friday and Saturday. I want to make he most of every breakfast, lunch and evening I have.

I’m very into my food but not after sophisticated restaurants, although I won’t discount. I want the comfort food, the easy easy and the neighbourhood favourites.

Looking to go out on both Thursday and Friday nights. I’m into my EDM, tropical, disco house is always a blast but up for very much everything, hip hop, rnb always welcome.

Could you recommend any places I could go to get my grub on?

What bars might be good to visit that isn’t a big club that I could go for a good beer and some music?

I’m staying south west Manhattan but have no issues traveling around.

Food:

Halal Guys. The truck is great but the brick & mortar is just fine. You can find he truck on 53rd street and 6th ave. The storefront is on 14th and 2nd ave. Get the combo plate.

Crif Dogs. It’s a great hot dog place where they use crazy toppings. That’s on St Marks (8th street) between 1st ave and Ave A. They also have a little speak easy attached but it’s not worth the wait.

Try any legit pizzeria. Don’t do the dollar slice unless you’re just curious. Joe’s Pizza on Carmine St has a good slice but it’s a little tourist-y.

If you like seafood, check out Lukes Lobster on 7th street between 1st ave and 2nd ave. I may have the avenues wrong but it’s definitely on the east side on 7th street.

Dive Bars:

The Patriot. Super divey. I’ll be honest, I never remember the exact streets but it’s in the financial district.

Three Sheets Saloon. It’s on West 3rd and 6th Ave. they also have a few sister bars all around the city. They have all the addresses for the other bars on the wall. Plus it’s around the corner from the Comedy Cellar, which is dope.

Good luck and have fun!

Currently in Luke’s lobster. Got the trio with a clam chowder. Few brews at underdog prior. Thanks for the recommendations buzzing for that first bite!

Trio is the way to go. The old bay seasoning is awesome. Gutsy move going for clam chowder in hr heat, though I’m use the rain has cooled things down a bit. I’m also more of a lobster bisque kinda guy myself lol

Great response, thanks

Heard of halal so will defs look at checking it out and your hot dog option seems legit. I’m hungry just honking about it.

I have no idea what those directions or street names mean but I’m sure it’ll make sense once I hit the ground :)

I think you're looking for r/nyc. New York is much too large to explore in the time you have.
