Loss
In windswept fields she waits alone,
From whence she came, she can't recall.
Among the grass she makes her home,
And marvels at its rise and fall.
---
In memory it seems to her,
Another used to dwell here too.
The images are just a blur,
Of the things they used to do.
---
The sunshine breaks her reverie,
Now no image fills her head.
She lays at peace; her mind at ease,
No thought given to the dead.
---
A horrid klaxon breaks her peace,
She lashes out with deadly aim.
And rolls away from what she sees.
The face within the picture frame.
