It's from my wife's Nonos seed collection that has been growing for decades. Most look like regular tomatoes on the vine, this girl was special. She was also closest to the ghost peppers.

Tomato varieties with this shape are usually really good for sauces.

Curious if cross pollination had anything to do with it. Take a bite. See if it had any fire to it.

No cross pollination of a pepper. Tomatoes and peppers both belong to the Nightshade family along with Eggplant and Tobacco. In the Nightshade family, a ton of the fruits can look the same ie this tomato and a chili pepper. Or certain varieties of Eggplants can look like certain tomatoes. Or my ultimate favorite, Wild Belladonna (Deadly Nightshade) Berries can look like small decorative peppers or small heirloom tomatoes (but highly poisonous and should be avoided if forging for food). The fruits/sex are part of the identification/classification of plants.
