Look in the manual.

I noticed the XA10 is on Rode’s unsupported list, but the XA15 isn’t.

So, I found this on the canon site:

You need to make sure it’s providing phantom power using the line/mic/mic +48v, as the mic doesn’t have its own. However, it seems to only support powering line 1 and line 2 inputs, which appear to be XLR. The 3.5mm mic input only supports powered mics (like the Videomic or the Videomic Pro).

Maybe it is possible to get an XLR-3.5mm adapter.

I am pretty sure that the VideoMic Go does not support Phantom Power only Plug-in Power. Using a XLR adaptor to send it phantom power look like a good way to destroy it.

You are probably right. It does need power supplied to it though as it doesn’t have its own power, and the canon manual specifically states the mic input doesn’t provide power.

I just saw a video of someone with the same problem on a XA10 and they updated the firmware and everything was working. I'm about to do the same. This is my first canon so I'm going to go through and get the firmware updated and see if that works.

EDIT: But here is the problem. The camera is so new that there is no firmware update available. Now I'm further confused.
