Rule Reminder: On offering Pokémon from external sites
####Hi friends!
Here's your mod team back with another friendly rule reminder. We’ve recently noticed an uptick of valuable Pokémon from outside subreddits being offered without disclosure. So let’s review the rules concerning Pokémon that originate from outside our community!
From Rule 3B (emphasis added):
####If you traded for [a Pokémon] outside r/pokemontrades (from a friend, on another site, etc), please be as specific as possible as to where, from whom, and/or how they obtained it.
####If you traded for it on another trading community, please also name the community and the user who traded it to you.
Basically, let's try to be extra vigilant with disclosing details about Pokémon not from this subreddit.
#####
#Why does this rule exist?
- External trading communities have different legitimacy standards from our own, making it important to disclose when Pokémon originated from elsewhere. These include trading forums both off site and within reddit at large. Please remember to provide full off-site trading history for every Pokémon handled outside of r/pokemontrades.
- Note: Full trading history entails not only the most recent trade, but the entire history of the Pokémon in question back to its original acquisition or redemption.
- Full disclosure enables us to guard against legitimacy violations and check for Pokémon from banned users, and allows your trading partners to judge for themselves whether to trust in the legitimacy of an externally-originating Pokémon. See more under Rule 3 FAQ here.
#Tips on safe trading
Here are a few tips to promote safe and legitimate trading!
- When obtaining Pokémon from outside communities and when offering them here, consider the following questions:
- Did you ask your trading partner whether or not they self-obtained the Pokémon? If not, it likely cannot be traded here, unless the full trade history is known or can be found.
- Did you ask your trading partner whether or not the Pokémon is hacked, edited, or cloned? Did you ask whether save state abuse was involved in redeeming the Pokémon? If not, it cannot be traded here, because you cannot simply assume otherwise.
- Do you trust your trading partner to be telling you the truth about the previous two points?
- Avoid scammers with our handy guide.
- As an interested trader, you are welcome to ask for any additional information about the Pokémon. Exercise caution and do your research!

Yesssss thank you for this reminder. I get so excited when I see someone offer a Cinema Genesect or Shiny Dahara Arceus and I like scramble and throw myself at them just for them not to have enough info on it. Then I curl up in the fetal position and hold back the tears.
Sometimes event collecting is pure sadness man...
That's why I'm retiring and going back to aprimons hahaha

Hey salti. I'm bored. I'll breed a shiny Archen and name it after you. You wait.
Hi helio(?)—that’s staggeringly sweet of you, my goodness. Thank you! I’ll have a looksee in my boxes for an appropriate exchange.
(They’re calling me “salti” now, by the by.)
Sadness and stress, tbh.
Will help you with the aprimons if you ever need the help tho (just holler up on a thread) c:
