This is really bizarre, because that's absolutely a betta. Not a molly.

I can’t wrap my head around how it could have even happened , I currently have a male betta. My husband bought a baby betta from petco about 5 months ago but he (or she) died pretty quickly.

Are you absolutely sure she died, and didn't just end up hiding out somewhere in the tank?

I found this one in my big tank, and the baby betta we had died inside our smaller tank. After it died we washed all the decor and even the gravel in the sink and left it empty for a long time. I feel terrible that this is a betta since it’s been eating primarily veggie pellets.

This is so crazy. Maybe it got scooped into a bag with some other fish you bought??

I feel silly asking this question, but I can’t help wondering if this is a molly fish or not. I had assumed molly because I have a 29 gallon with 4 mollies (3 f & 1 m), tetras, and cories. I discovered this tiny blue fish hiding in one of the plants and eventually decided to put him in his own 10 gallon since he was so tiny and always hiding from the others. It’s been a few months since then and he’s gotten a lot bigger.

I’m new to mollies and don’t have experience with the fry yet, so I tried to do some research online. There’s some silver on the belly and was thinking silver molly, but the fins don’t look right to me?? It looks so much like female bettas I’ve seen posted here. Any help is much appreciated.

Here is a photo of my mollies! https://i.imgur.com/lvBhNjA.jpg

Any live plants she could’ve ridden in on as an itty bitty fry? I can’t think what else could’ve happened. O.o

I haven’t bought anything live except for my marimo moss balls. I did buy about 6 fish shortly before i discovered her so she must have tagged along and I missed it.

I guess so. Quite the surprise, I’m sure!

Interesting. Females betas are fine in a community tank. Do you by chance have a friend visit to put her in while you weren't looking? lol Maybe the pet store mistook her for a Mollie when smaller when came in on their shipment. She does have a unique back fin.
