Withholding

My mother knows nothing of my poetry.

I don't think that she'd understand.

I know all she wants for me is sanity.

But for me, I'm afraid I'll be banned.

For her when I'm writing I'm stuck in my mind.

I can't turn it off, you see?

But to ban me forever just wouldn't be kind.

'Cause when I am writing I'm free!

So if she does see this I hope she will see,

although she may still not approve,

that poetry’s deep in my heart happily

and all I can do is improve.
