Letting go of my love

Feedback Received!

Silvery silvery moon

Stain the night blue and grey

Vigilant on a summer’s day

With eyes that remember the pain in my soul

Twilight outlines on the hills

paint the violets and daffodils

Grasp my heart before the winter chills

In colors on a snowy layered land

/

I did not want to accept what you said to me

How I mourned for your sanity

Remembering when you set yourself free

I didn’t want to understand, I didn’t know how

Maybe I’ll understand now

/

Silvery silvery moon

Lighting the streets that brightly blaze

Under the twilight in a violet haze

Reflect in Fatima’s eyes of deep amber grain

Olive face lined in pain

Is soothed beneath someone else’s hand

/

I did not want to accept what you said to me

How I mourned for your sanity

Remembering when you set yourself free

I didn’t want to understand, I didn’t know how

Maybe I’ll understand now

/

They could not love you

How could it be true

And when no hope was left out of spite

Under the silvery silvery moon light

You lost your innocence, as lovers often do

But I could have told you, Fatima

This reality wasn’t meant for someone

As beautiful as you

/

Silvery silvery moon

Caressing the empty halls

With forgotten voices reflecting against empty walls

With eyes that can’t seem to forget

Unlike the nameless faces that you’ve met

The tattered men in tattered clothes

The remains of the bloodied rose

Lie bruised and riven amid the virgin snow

/

I think I must now accept what you tried to say to me

And mourn for my own serenity

Accepting that I must set you free

Maybe I’ll see you on another summer day

Not giving up hope still

Perhaps we never will
