OUR NEW VIRTUAL ACTING CLASS!
Hello Actors! Welcome to this new subreddit! It is for actors who are serious about honing their craft. I will be posting periodic acting lessons (some I’ve reposted from the other sub so you can find them easily here). I will also give you assignments. You are encouraged to post video as well as read my feedback and direction to other contributors. I want this to be as much like a real acting class as possible. And students learn from watching others and listening to what the teacher says about them as much as from their own involvement. You may give supportive, constructive criticism as well.
Please feel free to ask questions about acting and the business. I am an acting coach in LA, and I’m here to help in any way I can.
If you have a self-tape or show reel, you may post it. I will give feedback whenever I am available and of course others are welcome to comment as well. I’m hoping this will be a community where real actors can learn from each other and from me. I invite other acting coaches to join in as well. I want this sub to be inspiring and informative. Now you can say you study in LA!
If you have a favorite video on acting, have learned something new in your acting class, or had a recent breakthrough as an actor, please share with the group. I’m so excite about sharing and learning together!
Edit: Someone on another sub asked me my background so I will include it here:
I have been teaching acting in NYC and now LA for 30 years. I am presently (for the past 9 years) working full time on set for a celebrity who is staring in a network tv series. I am there whenever he is to keep him focused and on point. He is a perfectionist and trusts my eyes to watch while he is immersed in his character. I’m there to give feedback throughout the day. I also am recommended by agents, managers and casting directors to prepare young actors for film and tv auditions. I have limited time to do that these days, though.
I come from a performing family. I sang with the Philadelphia Opera, did a lot of musical theater, spent two years at the American Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Conn., did almost a hundred tv commercials as well as some tv and film work. But teaching has always been a big part of who I am. I have taught acting and musical theater workshops in LA, NYC, Paris, Rome, and Spain. I had a busy studio of private students in NYC and LA for years, teaching both acting and singing, which included agent and CD guests to perform for. It’s been an exciting journey.
