No random rolls on Y1 armor...

Bungie Suggestion

So, I've heard that Y1 gear, even gear recreated from the collections page, will not be getting random rolls. I cannot understand this decision at all except for Bungie trying to make more incentive for people to purchase Forsaken. I feel like all of our cosmetic items including armor, ornaments and Eververse loot, which we have put countless hours into grinding for during year 1, is all about to become completely obsolete and trash. Even our Solstice sets and glows! I have to ask what the point of this massive grind event has been when the gear was always going to be obsolete in a month.

Now I dont know about everyone else, but this personally feels like a massive slap in the face from Bungie. A slap in the face of all of the fans who decided to stick around and support this game, despite it having one of the absolute worst launches in videogame history for a second time now.

While I understand year 1 weapons not getting new rolls, one of the best things about Destiny, imo, is amassing tons of gear and then crafting a unique look for your character from a huge collection of gathered items. To make all of this gear useless via new rolls only being on Y2 stuff is cutting our selection of cosmetic options for our characters in half, assuming you want to make your character as strong as possible by taking advantage of new rolls.

How is this okay? Why does Bungie THINK this is okay after all the complaints about loot rewards this game has seen since day 1? With the collections page coming, why can we not, at the very least, be allowed to pay in game currency to remake these armor pieces with at least one random perk on them?

I feel like I cant be the only one who feels betrayed by this decision and I really hope that Bungie will at some point in the future, add the possibility for rolls on this gear. Throwing out all of these awesome gear designs and making every player's dedication to this game for the past year seem almost pointless seems like one of the worst decisions they could have ever made. Please Bungie, have respect for your own work and the time fans have put into your game and do not let all our work and yours go to waste like this.

It’s perfectly fine, actually.

For you perhaps. What about everyone who actually cares about all the gear they earned becoming completely useless and never being able to put it on or show off all because Bungie cant find a way or be bothered to make it worth using?

I care a lot about the gear. I disagree that it’s useless.

So the fact that you will have to suffer a vast loss in power and efficiency just to wear a piece of gear you perhaps had to grind hours, days, or even weeks for doesnt bother you at all? All because it is, for some unknown reason, too hard for Bungie to implement rolls on the old stuff that we are going to be able to remake from collections anyway? I dont work for Bungie or claim to understand their development process, but I really cant imagine it would be hard to implement this. And it feels like they are being lazy or are just incentivizing sales of the new expansion at the cost of the dedication countless players and fans have shown Bungie by continuing to play this game even during its roughest times when many jumped ship.

Year 1 mods suck, and losing them is not a “vast loss” of anything. I’ve gone out of my way to not mod any of my gear in Y1 and I’ve been able to do just about everything in the game without issue, which is something that is going to be true for most players.

In Year 2 I’ll be able to use the armor sets I aesthetically enjoy, and still be able to do all the top tier content. Mods and perks smooth rough edges; they aren’t game changers.

Also love the bit about not understanding their development process but then immediately falling back on the “it couldn’t be hard to do this!”, as if you have even the slightest idea what you are talking about.

Do you need Forsaken to get y2 gear? Won't zavala, shaxx, banshee, and engrams provide y2 items?

They will!

No you don’t need to buy Forsaken for random rolls. If you want a bow then yes that’s only in Foresaken. Non buyers will just be locked out from Forsaken content and capped at 400 power level I believe.

This isnt about whether or not Forsaken let's you get Y2 gear or not. Its about a ton of Y1 gear designs being retired and not being able to use our old gear due to only the new stuff being worth it because of new stats. I think it's funny we will be able to infuse our old stuff to raise its light level, but that it will still be subpar because it will be impossible to put rolls on it

All the planetary vendors will probably have year 2 versions of their year 1 gear. Still getting random rolls if you don’t buy Forsaken, it’s a system wide change

Some gear may carry over in such a way, yes. But how about Eververse armor? Or Solstice gear? Or anything else Bungie doesnt want to update and would rather just throw out altogether?

its a video game, dude

What is the point of this argument? We know it's a videogame. But it's a videogame, and for many, a hobby, that people have put countless hours into and now a ton of that work and time people put in is about to get spat on. And seemingly, for no good reason.

I know it sucks for some people to not be able to get random rolls on their old gear but it really isn’t that big of a deal. Everyone will still be able to use their old gear and infuse it up to max power just like the new gear. I get that perks on the new armor sets will make them slightly better than the old gear sets, but in reality, what difference does it make? In no way does it inhibit your ability to do any activities that the game has available, and I highly doubt that no perks will put you at any noticeable disadvantage against people in the crucible that do have perks.

Apparently all year 1 gear is also having their mod slots straight up removed. Making them doubly useless

True but that doesn’t necessarily make them unable to compete. In the end, weapons and supers (and exotic armor) play a much bigger role than armor in either pvp or pve
