The Skull of a Little Bird

I had a Feeling today- vulnerable, brittle and sad

It curled like a fiddlehead in my palm and told me, if tended to, It could make me feel human again

But before I could stow It away in the nest of my heart, It caught your eye

And you snuffed It out
