Final Days - Prologue [2500 words]
Hello all .-.
I'm new to this subreddit (literally just joined about two hours ago). It looks like a nice community, and I've commented a few times on threads here and there. I'll probably be around in the next few weeks, though with school, who knows :P
Anyways. I'm 17, and making an attempt at writing a full length science fiction novel. Currently, the latest draft is at 400 pages, though it'll probably top at around 450-500
The title is 'Final Days,' though it's subject to change. For the sake of brevity, I'll refrain from sharing the plot, but feel free to ask.

That ^ is the prologue I've written for the book. It's not the best thing I've written, but it's an adequate representative of what much of my work is like. I'm presently in the process of editing the earlier chapters, and while I can catch some things, there are certain aspects that are imperceptible to the writer himself. (You all know what I'm talking about, surely :D).
The prologue is relatively short, and the plot is not yet evident. Even so, if you can make a mention of how you interpreted the events of the chapter, that'd be much appreciated. Advice and/or feedback over the characters would also be appreciated, but what I'm really looking for is a critique of the dialogue, the pacing/narrative, and the general writing style.
Also, I realize this subreddit functions on a give and receive policy, so if anyone who reads this has a chapter or two of their own that they'd like feedback on, don't hesitate to mention so and provide a link :)
Thanks
