Because there can never be enough farming simulators.
city folk just don't get it
farmers gunna farm, fam.
Farming Simulator 18 is only for 3DS, Vita and Mobile. It’s a watered down version of the Farming Simulator gameplay. Farming Simulator Nintendo Switch Edition is Farming Simulator 17 without the multiplayer or mod support.
They try to make an odd numbered year edition for Home Consoles and even numbered for handhelds. This is why you see Farming Simulator 19 for PS4/Xbox One releasing later this year.
Other Farming Simulator knock offs typically show up as well. The type you might find in a Walmart bargain bin. Make sure you avoid those versions, because most, if not all, pale in comparison to Giant Software’s own Farming Simulator.

These games come out annually. Switch Edition is just 17 and was named and priced to take advantage of a new market, and apparently they haven't dropped the price in the wake of 18 releasing.
