I haven't slept in three whole days
(it's hidden somewhere in nevada)
My life's become all dreary grays
(he gives me time but never sleep)

When I was eight or nine years old
(i must protect the seashelled palace)
I'd run and play, so free, so bold
(before it's lost in briny deep)

\

I overturn the hourglass
(the time is always in the sea)
Just as I'll think, no time has passed
(salted just like human tears)

My thoughts increase in pitch, they're shrill
(but sleep is red and kept among)
In limbo only, time stands still
(the millions of tiny spears)

\

I cannot stay here all alone
(in two minds i approach them both)
All hands are static, this isn't home
(in one mind water, the other air)

I close the door before I go
(my voice escapes from my control)
Crash through the window into the snow
(instantly they know i'm there)

\

My mind is broken, I think I see
(that flowing, living, snakelike beard)
The single person keeping me
(atop his mare of midnight screams)

The man of slow and then make haste
(the man of all things running out)
The man of endless desert waste
(the man of sleep, perchance of dreams)
