Perfection
White rabbits that get away,
Make us dread another day.
Ideas of what we should be,
Keep us caged, never truly free.
A concept we can't define,
Entwined and tangled like a vine,
That germinates our minds until,
We succumb to pallid thrill.
Perfection's deception -
It leaves you wanting more.
The goal so unattainable,
No point in keeping score.
A road to endless failure,
The stakes are just too high.
Like Icarus,
We fall down from the sky.
If God is the perfect case,
And welcomes us in His embrace,
To join the ranks of His divine,
Then maybe we'll be fine.
But born as sinners who will stray,
From ancient words and bygone ways,
Our flaws define who we become,
Our journey's never done.
Perfection's deception,
Was never meant to be.
A way of life to follow,
Pure dogma for the free,
To sacrifice their lives,
For all eternity.
In search of meaning and community.
For a fee.
Perfection is a fallacy,
We all have flaws we see.
The beauty of our dear fucked up humanity.
Ideal versions of ourselves,
Exist in our minds.
We know the leaps and bounds we'll take,
To make those stars align.
Impossible is just a gate,
We'll find a way to break.
But "perfect" is a pipe dream,
A scintillating fake.
The world is wrapped in entropy,
Its chaos good and bad,
Balanced out through butterflies and hurricanes,
No perfection to be had.
