what the fog said
fog,
which falls upon the eyes of the hopeful
and the hopeless without distinction,
clouding the harbors sleet-ridden and silent,
which curls around the yellow shanty lights
like hands made gray with cold around a fire,
which hangs immutable over reverent valleys
like the untranslated voice of god.
smog, mist, haze,
i cannot stand immersed in forests
claimed by your smoke
without finding my own breath
fuming,
evaporating,
fading into sameness.
as mute songbirds appear and disappear
upon your invisible winds,
as the wilt of unnoticed flowers
bloom in your silver garden,
as skeletal winter trees
swell with phantom life,
so may my lungs and eyes and bones
melt under your wordless requiems.
you, who reminds us
that life may dissipate only into life
and how death so easily departs
under the baptism of a rising sun.
I'm back! I went through a hard time recently but I'm doing a lot better now and I'm gonna try my best to start writing consistently again.
