You'd think that a leading journalist at Melbourne's biggest newspaper would have the wherewithal to track his tips and get it changed before publishing. It makes him look incompetent.

I would expect that to usually happen, and it does. But it's totally inconceivable that once in a blue moon I might put in some tips on Monday, have a bunch of conversations on Tuesday, and come out with different tips on Wednesday. Especially when you consider that the scope of the two questions are so different: one is dealing with the concrete fixtures for the weekend, the other is a big picture "imagine broadly how you think the finals will go". It seems pretty understandable to me that you could end up with two answers that might disagree with each other if asked those two things independently..
Also he does SO much media and it's probably more scattergun than him getting a chance to sit back and think "alright Mark, what do we REALLY think is gonna happen" before sending everything out.

A few months back someone on BigFooty said he saw Robbo at the pub while a game was on, and was three sheets to the wind. Twenty minutes after the game was over, the match report that said "written by Mark Robinson" was on the Herald Sun's website. Either he has ghost writers or he's a high-functioning alcoholic, but seeing him on 360, he certainly does not seem high-functioning.

The only logical solution:
During GF week after a hard slog to make it to the game Geelong, their opponent from the semis and the prelim are rocked by a Bombers style drug scandal exposed by Gawn, voiding their participation, the only fair solution... throw Melbourne into the match. They lose but Gawns impact throughout September is massive.
