Way more ambitious re-imagining of the structure than your usual remix or mashup. I like it. Feels like a "Bad Future" version of Streaky, if you've ever played Sonic CD.

In that game, a fat mad scientist has turned everything into robots in nature. But he has done so in the past, present, and future. So if you destroy him in one part of the timeline, other timelines change, thus the levels you access.

So depending on the future, good bad, etc. there is a different song.

So your re-imagining sounds like the dystopian future level where Dr. Eggman has taken over.
