The Ever-Knowing Heart
While I fall asleep, failing to convince myself I matter,
I see that in this world of glass, my brittle heart has shattered.
Why cry when I know the tears will make my heart flood?
I begin to weep, to fill my heart with something besides blood.
The brain begins to drown, now it’s struggling to breathe.
But my heart says not now, this is how it’s meant to be.
I look down to it, watching as it fails to do it’s part.
It sees something that I can’t, the ever-knowing heart.
