My majestic co-worker
Ricky has a personal scanner. Ricky is very fond of his scanner. It follows him to the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room and even out on calls. The volume control must be malfunctioning because it seems to always be excessively loud, particularly when we are out in public.
Ricky is also very fond of his utility belt, which has so many items on it that I am always surpised that his pants are still up after he struggles to his feet from a crouching or sitting position. Ricky does love his mcdonalds.
Ricky LOVES to drive lights and sirens! It always fills my heart with a quiet joy to see his rictus grin and crazed bloodshot eyes in the rear-view mirror as I assure my patient that the road is just bumpy and the ride will soon, blessedly, be over. He seems much more comfortable driving than he does attending, poor guy always seems to freeze up if the patient requires something more complicated than a stern talking to.
Ricky is very mindful of our safety and I appreciate that. He is never without his bullet proof vest and has often had the foresight to pre-emptively request police assistance even when it is not necessarily warranted, and may even directly cause the scene to escalate, but he is a worrier.
Ricky sure loves his job! He wears EMS related shirts every day and is never without his trusty scanner to keep him in the loop. He even lives at the station for weeks on end sometimes. Funny guy. If only more of us aspired to be like Ricky
