SSE 3.12.12 Bug with GameDAC

Software

I am noticing that after reboot my GameDAC Speakers sound device disappears since the latest update. I have verified that this happens everytime the PC is rebooted unless I disconnect/reconnect the device's USB port. Strangely, both sound devices appear on reboot until the Steelseries Engine software starts up - then my GameDAC speakers device vanishes until I reconnect the device again. It seems related to the SSE Engine trying to install the DTS X Headphone extensions - it prompts to reconnect the device, but after doing so only lasts until the next reboot. Anyone else having this issue?

I too have the Arctis Pro + GameDAC and have this problem with the new updated engine 3.12.12 as you mention. Had to unplug and replug for the "GameDAC game" to reappear. I hope they can get this fix soon. Might be the new DTS X APO causing re-initialization hiccup.

Just updated to 3.12.12. I've got an Arctis 7, the headset randomly turns off after a few dozen minutes.

Did all the troubleshooting i could. Reinstalled Windows (unrelated issue) tried us b 2 ports. No dice, definite software bug.

I'm also experiencing this issue on Windows 10. It occurs for me on after reboots and when resuming from sleep.

Anyone had a fix for this? I'm still experiencing the same problem

Unfortunately not, it seems to have gotten worse too (at least for me). Reconnecting headset does bring the GameDAC Game back, but I can only ever get 2 of the 3 devices working reliably at any one time. (ie. Mic and GameDAC Chat work but Game doesnt, or GameDAC Chat and Game work, but the Mic doesnt).

I installed an older version of Ss Engine and now it works fine. A bit buggy when configuring (can take a couple of seconds to save) but at least i now have a working config and audio channels.

Interesting. What version of the SSE engine did you revert back to, and where did you download it from? I did ask SteelSeries support about reverting the firmware and SSE version to older versions but they didnt even answer the question when I asked them. Thanks

I used an old one I had in my download folder.

You can download it here; https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsudnpJ2Racvg7FeT-IG8a7bhsOy1A

I uninstalled the software -> restarted -> this version.

Note that it tells you to update firmware, but don't. For me it works fine as is.

I bought Steelseries Arctis Pro + GameDAC two weeks ago. First week was ok, but few days ago, after each time I boot the PC, I have to unplug and plug GameDAC to make it appear in the Windows. What should I do to fix it? I haven't installed any software for it.

Hi there, I had a similar issue in that GameDAC Game wouldn't appear until I unplugged and plugged the GameDAC back in.

All I can suggest is to try first installing SSE 3.12.9 from this link and see if it makes a difference. https://downloads.steelseriescdn.com/drivers/engine/SteelSeriesEngine3.12.9Setup.exe If that doesn't work, then maybe install the latest SSE, update the firmware of the headset/gamedac and see what happens. If its still not working after that, then try going back to the 3.12.9 version, but dont try installing firmware when prompted as it generally wont work in my experience.

That's basically all the steps I've taken to get it working.

Edit: If you do uninstall the latest version of SSE and want to install an older version, you may need to manually delete the SteelSeries folders under Program Files and ProgramData to ensure any old settings are completely removed beforehand.

Issue with device disconnecting still exists in 3.13.3

Just installed 3.13.4 and rebooted once. I did not have to reconnect the GameDAC this time! Not 100% sure its fixed, but the first test was successful

Came back for me on that version, keep us posted

indeed, issue is still there. Damnit :( What version do i need to install to not have this issue?

I just gave up and uninstalled, I think 3.12.9 is your best bet. The dts 2 update caused it.

How is this not fixed?

They are looking into it further seems my HTC vive may have been a factor

theres a new update that came out today 3.13.8, lets see if the bug is still present

Issue remains with 3.13.19. Does not save any Windows Sound settings on reboot or after device is disconnected/reconnected for me on Windows 10 latest update. Have to manually set devices each time - can replicate by switching between Hi-Res and PC input on GameDAC.
