The cards we're dealt aren't always fair.
River.
Day one, born with some cards in hand,
I didn’t ask for these, I’ve got no chance to land
On both of my feet, let along safely,
Chances are I’ll grow up with no security or safety.
Trying to pay rent, buy clothes or food,
It’s surely not my fault that my hand ain’t good.
I didn’t ask to play life, or a game of poker,
Cause it seems all I got was a pair of jokers.
I peeked next door, they got a pair of aces,
I’m just sitting here grinding, going through my paces.
My heating system’s broke, I can see my breath,
I’m done praying, just let me freeze to death.
So should I check or bet, I’m barely holding on,
I’m done playing this game, it’s gone on far too long.
It feels like my hand gives me no chance to deliver,
So please let me make it, on the turn or the river.
