The before and after graphic look exactly the same.
I mean, the one on the right is slightly clearer but usually these images are a load of bull any way's.
The pictures are too small to show any improvement in focus. I'm talking about the black lines that are supposed to depict a difference in how auto focus will work with the update. Both exactly the same.
That's too bad... I was hoping for something crazy, like... a new codec... Oh well! Bmpc4k it is... :(
Yeah I was underwhelmed, only two improvements and we won't know about the improved AF until we test it. Auto exposure I never use so that fix is a yawn. I was hoping for a new codec as well and probably will go for a bmpcc 4k if/when it's ever released but I'll keep my GH5, I won't sell it.
I hear from suppliers here in Canada that the bmpc4k is shipping now, so who knows! I mean... I love my gh5, and I think it's got everything I need to be creative. I just would love the ability to have a good raw codec for video. 10bit is enough though I think.
I know I want to add a second camera and I'm torn between the bmpcc and a GH5s. Talk about your first world problems!
Well, one is much cheaper. :S.
I'm just happy Panasonic continues to improve my GH5 even if the changes look to be fairly minor. As far as the actual improvements in practice... we'll just have to test and measure them once the firmware releases.
