Hope
Written as a response to the complaint : "CMV: My view outside my window is a Red Brick Wall, it is ugly, and I would like to see a different perspective on my city. Change my view."
The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven...
- Milton, Paradise Lost
There is nothing better than a brick wall outside your window.
Solid. Steady. Constant.
Forget the world beyond your walls, untold horrors lie in wait;
With jagged edge and razors sharpness,
a billion lost souls walk the streets,
on the brink of subtle suicide.
Of twisted flesh and festering lies, smiling,
daggered teeth, exhale sweet poisons:
words of welcome to the banquet.
Eat to fill or starve of indifference,
the silence of a trillion dying stars
crushes down, ready to push you into the abyss.
Stay behind your brick wall, secure in you visions of home,
firm in your belief that a beautiful world lies just a step beyond.
