Appreciation of a fearful sensation.

Pain, I find it rather strange, how clearly plain
it rests that your respect shouldn't be subject to neglect
and yet mankind will fret when they see you beset.
How quickly they forget, the lessons you beget.

You act cold, but truth be told, and I be so bold
my fondest memories can really only be
firmly in your company.  So why should we flee
from your patient yearning?  That spells madness to me!


If you were not we'd be pull taut in our lot.
Your eager embrace brings warmth to my face
And I wish we'd all chase your winning case
So we could find our place in your holy space

So I'm not happy with the way this turned out. I feel like its incomplete at the very least, but I cannot seem to figure out what's missing. Im honestly not sure I even love the format for this subject matter, which is supposed to be about the complex relationship people, and specifically myself, have with feelings of pain. Both the emotion and the sensation. Feel free to really dig in here, how do I make this better?
