"Bleached Emotions"

The whole world is dark without you in it.

Its as if I’ve lost my guiding light.

Colorless and drab, I can’t feel happy.

I think about you every night.

_

Your smile would shake my whole worldview.

Your voice could always make me feel at peace.

Your presence always reassured me.

Then one day it all just ceased.

_

When you left me behind in a world tainted,

by giving me a taste of heaven, grand,

You took from me a piece of my own soul.

Now everything, at best, feels bland.

_

Now I live listless and blind to color,

Looking for a passion I can’t find.

I can’t help but think, the last time I saw you

I left a piece of me behind.

_

I’ve been told I have to move on.

And that there’s no sense living in the past.

So I slowly trundle forward,

But there’s not enough of me to last.

_

I fear, eventually, all my attachments,

Won’t be enough to keep me away.

But you wouldn’t want to see me early,

So I’m doing my best to stay.

_

But every moment I spend without you,

Is like living void of hope or pain.

Like, sitting, staring at a white wall,

There’s just no happiness to gain.
