Wishes of Whimsy
Wishes of Whimsy
_
As I wish upon a star tonight,
I know I wish in vain.
And yet I still wish anyway,
despite the absent gain.
_
I dare to wish upon a star,
however hopeless it may be.
I dare hold on to childish whims,
because they mean the world to me.
_
So I wish I may, I wish I might,
I wish this solemn wish tonight.
I wish for love, I wish for life,
and I wish for a smile tonight.
_
Oh shooting star, now burning bright,
I wish a many wish tonight.
I wish to be, I wish to see,
and I wish I always knew what’s right.
_
But I wish without a goal,
without a payoff or a boon.
I know my wishes won’t be granted,
ever, tomorrow, or anytime soon.
_
But still I wish, with all my heart,
and hold hopeless hope they may come true.
Because when you abandon your childish whims,
you lose what is to truly be you.
