A Question

What will happen, Father,

When I dunk my head in water?

Will all my sins wash away?

Or are they here to stay?

Are they baked into my history,

like something forever meant to be?

Does it even help when I pray to thee?

None of this seems clear to me.

How long should I travel, Father?

Is the salvation I seek that much farther?

Or should I leave my homeland behind,

to purge these thoughts from my mind?

Or will I forever be done;

fighting battles I'll never see won?

Will they do me like the Lord's son?

Have I sufficiently built my cross to burn on?
