It’s really impressive to have a title that so inaccurately reflects the post you linked.

Inb4 next thread is on ATZ "phew, those OTHER subs amirite"

There's just one big comment chain in there in reference to the title. Protoss is asking how to get a base ahead, later discussion reveals the cause of the question is the belief that protoss needs to be up a base.

I like how seeing all that productive discussion he only sees one bad comment and decides to try and flame Protoss for it. I mean they have to up 5 workers per base to account for mules but I don’t think anyone is claiming they need anything more than a faster base.

You're not wrong except some people are in fact claiming you need to be up a whole base

I was on mobile when I made this post. Thanks for actually reading through it and understanding what was going on.

Constantly using your CC energy on mules only worth about 3.5 extra workers in lotv. If you factor in some scans protoss is mostly fine if he just matches your number of workers.

No they were saying 3 base protoss = 2 base terran. Claiming there is no way to take advantage of chrono without a 3rd base mining.

He could have linked directly to the comment chain. I don't think that was the reason for the OP posting that question either.

it hilarious too, the toss players in that thread were basically saying it wasnt even worth the effort to try and kill terrans third as you could just sit back with a superior economy and this guy just totally did not understand that lmao

No. They were saying that protoss need to be on 3 base mining to be even with a 2 base terran with mules.

So. A worker gets you about 50 resources a minute. If you have 16 guys on minerals at a fresh base, that's 800 minerals a minute, right?

A mule gets you 300 minerals in it's life span on top of that (since they can mine patches occupied by scvs) and it lives for about a minute.

So let's just compare a protoss player with 48 guys across 3 bases (50 * 48 = 2,400 minerals) to a terran player with 32 guys on 2 bases and 2 orbitals constantly muling (50 * 35 = 1600 + 600 = 2,200).

So yeah, on raw minerals, it checks out, roughly. Keep in mind if you're on even supply in this situation, terran should have a 16 army supply lead (which leads intuitively into "huh maybe I should allin off 1-1".)

edit: also, rereading the above makes me wish mules could be used on gas as this would make 2-base mech way better but whatever.

Terran often go for two base stim attacks vs P. That said you can open with 3rd CC after factory and get your 3rd before Tods is you choose.
