Moral Ambiguity [Fallout 4]

Spoiler

As a huge fan of FO3 and NV, I was initially genuinely upset with the story line of FO4. While initially I loved the combat and crafting mechanics, the main quest became increasingly dull and predictable (even with the realization that your son was the leader of the Institute). And so I didn't bother completing the main quest. For years. However. I finally decided to "complete" the game in preparation for 76. Upon reaching the Battle of Bunker Hill (II*) I finally found myself at an actual crossroads. One which I had never found in a Fallout game before. Now as a person who lacks the fortitude to play an "evil" playthrough, I had always felt morally obligated to choose a certain side. In FO3 it was subverting the Brotherhood to give clean water to all. In FONV, buck the NCR, free power for all.

But in 4 there was a much more clouded and realistic decision to make. For me it was to betray the trust of Danse and my own child in order to provide a uniquely free Commonwealth. And I will say; it honestly took a lot out of me to shoot my first BoS npc. Maybe I was just watching too much West World. Maybe I just didn't like the cut of their jib. But even so, shooting those unsuspecting comrades really made me question the decisions I'd made. And this is a game. As someone who used to downplay the story of FO4, I just wanted to say thanks. Only you lot will understand.
