Props to our NYKnicks

The Knicks have been playing way better than most of us would've expected. Our losses so far have been one possession (and the ending of the Celtics game was BS https://twitter.com/IanBegley/status/1054117852276551680)

We all knew we would suck this season, but we are actually looking like a solid team and competing in these games even with KP out. I don't want to jump the gun again, but I'm starting to have a lot of faith in our future and even next year.

It's essentially the best case scenario for the tank, super competitive during the games despite missing key players and still managing to take the L. Honestly as much as I'm for piling up the losses this season I am a little upset that both of our losses came from Brooklyn and Boston. My desire to beat them at all times outweighs my desire for the tank haha.

dont really care about brooklyn, the celtics i wish we had beat.

Yup exactly. As long as we know we can win and aren't getting these demoralizing blow outs each game and every game, it really is the best case scenario for us and the players to develop.

Other teams will have to take us seriously or they might be upsetted

Sign me up for 79 more hard fought close losses...lol

Please let that be true i just don't want the knicks overachieving to reach 30 plus wins and fall out the top 5 in the lottery

This is the dream. We are trying to build a winning culture here, and and tanking blatantly is not healthy for morale and culture

Teams don't tank.

It's a myth.

Organizations tank. Players never do.

Is there any evidence of this? I'm legitimately curious.

The Sixers tanked for like 5 years, and once they got the proper pieces they went from 3rd worst record to 3rd seed in the East.

Culture is created by players buying into what a coach is saying. Culture isn't going to win games. We need great players. The teams that have "losing cultures" and suck generally make bad moves. The King and the Magic dont suck because of some sort of stench of culture, they suck becasue their front office has made shitty move after shitty move.

The Celtics, in contrast, aren't a great team because of some sort of magic culture, it's because they made incredible moves at the right time.

Eh, how about 55. I want them to have the 2nd pick (Kings #1 to fuck over Boston), I don't want them to be literally the worst team of all time, who knows how that would affect the players next year.

Deal. Great point about Boston.

Accidentally tanking is ideal. Fight hard in every game, but lose. Acquire a key piece in the draft. Get KP back. World domination?

Idk man it's only been 3 games. Knicks fans should know better than to let their hopes/faith in the future go up based on virtually nothing

im coming out as a serious doubter of this team, they are legit playing way above my expectations, with lots of good surprises (trier and vonleh) but its also too early to tell hope that im wrong, go knickers

Early in the year before teams know that they’re bad. Not trying to be overly cynical but I wouldn’t expect it to continue

feels like a trust the process tank than a knicks suck tank

Yah it's really fucking weird to be kind of optimistic about a Knicks team.

Props to our knicks for being watchable thus far regardless of result, something i wasn’t expecting coming into the season. I’ve been looking forward to the games.

Other than just over two seasons worth of Melo years, the Knicks have been getting blown out seemingly every other game since Van Gundy walked away.

I'm actually excited to watch Knicks games now as I don't have to suspend my disbelief anymore.

it's been 3 games lol, just wait till february.

Not to talk it down but I think a lot of what we're seeing is our team coming in ready to go and hungry now, while other teams are just revving things up, stretching the legs a bit before a long marathon.

Lets see how things look when we're 30-40 games in and our guys are getting fatigued.

It’s early. I don’t know if we’re seeing our guys improve or playing like they did last year. I have a lot of hope for Knox, but Frank is still not doing enough to look like a true starter pg, sg, sf, whatever the hell he is. Same with burke. Hardaway still making the same mistakes. We’re missing a true rim protector and aren’t shooting any better at the 3 ball. Until we sign a real superstar and KP shows he still has it, we’re barely an 8th seed (if that for the foreseeable future).

Hardaway is who he is. He's not going to suddenly develop good shot selection. He's a bad deal at this point, and there's not much reason to expect that to change. Root for good counting stats and trade
