Can confirm. Heard of them during the Machinima days, was but a young lad finding out the horrors of incoming puberty, am currently in college.
These fucks are pretty much solely responsible for the tastes I developed during my formative years.
First heard them from machinima, and that was back in early highschool, I'm currently on my third(ish?) year of college. These chucklefucks have permanently altered my vocabulary.
Yeyeye. Same here. First watched Bossman and Fuckface on their Machinima days, now I’m in college and catching up on all the horror movies of the McMuscles Midnight Massacre
These fucks are pretty much solely responsible for the tastes I developed during my formative years.
And I can not thank them enough for that!
Been watching since late high school/early college. Am now 25 year old adult. They've definitely shaped my taste in gaming and anime. I cannot believe I've been watching as long as I have. They're one of the few LP channels that I still watch pretty consistently.
it's so weird to think they're all proper adults now and not twenty-something bachelors hanging out on a couch in a shitty apartment... i always feel so behind in life til i realise they're all much older than i am, and always have been.
They got me through my entire college arc.
Forreal. High school and college, some nights I'd be too anxious and stressed to sleep or get work done so I'd watch their vids to keep myself sane.
I started watching them randomly through Machinima back in 2010, went to the subreddit few years later and then started to listen to their podcast and as last year actually watch most lp they releases including everything from Matt and Woolies channels.
I am 21 they have been in over a third of my life.
Once I finally join the work force/get out of college, I am going to give Pat a donation telling him how I’ve been watching them ever since their very first machinima back at ~2010...when I was 13 and how I grew up into adulthood with these old chucklefucks
And I will laugh and laugh and laugh with my gf as we watch Pat just stare off into space, his soul wasting away into the warp, and his husk sinking into the depths of the Earth in ultimate despair
Edit: Also fun fact, I had a weird roommate situation in freshman year, but I finally got a steady roommate and guess fucking what. After a few months of college roommate awkwardness, we discovered that we BOTH GREW UP WITH/WATCH THESE ASSHOLES and bonded over that
He is now my best friend and is the guy that finally pushed me into trying character action games around a year ago
Seems like we have the same plan. I'm hopefully a few months away from completing my mission
Started watching early Machinima stuff at some point freshman year of college now I’m out of law school started a legal job
College Freshman right now, pretty much set on law school. Any pointers?
Most law schools these days allow you to take notes during lectures on laptops; I have had the experience of part of way through I did notes in paper ring notebooks and then later on my laptop for reasons that will be discussed below - I should have just taken them on my laptop in the first place. The way near-universally the first year of law school works ("1L") is you will be assigned fixed subject classes in a very large lecture classes for the basic subjects. You will get assigned readings from (overpriced) casebooks that have edited down court decisions and some discussion of a concept the case is supposed to represent. The professors all have some system for calling on members of the class to answer questions about it (known as "cold-calling" - some profs have a system some are random). All your first year classes and likely most of your classes after that your grade is almost entirely based upon one single end of year ~2-3 hour essay exam. You typically have full open book but you need to have shorthand notes on concepts prepared for useful reference. Many law schools student government or student bar association have online collected resources of "outlines" of all the subjects and sub topics a given professor gives for a particular class (Because from one professor to another a class can be a bit different in what topics they focus on) - take one or multiple of these and then take the headings (you'll probably have gotten a course outline of topics at the beginning of the semester) and condense them down and take material from your own to make your outline - and then make another shorter even more condense version of this. Between the process of making these in the weeks before your exam and then reviewing them to remember topics and rules you will be able to absorb what you need to answer the essay prompts you get on the exam. (which will probably take the form of maybe 2-5 hypothetical stories designed to raise a handful of legal principles you discussed where you will have to write about which are raised and what the likely result would be
Alright, thank you very much for this wealth of information. I’ve avoided taking notes on my laptop like the plague, but now it seems that I’ll have to rethink this particular stance of mine. It’s a relief that they at least will let me use the, albeit overpriced, textbook and some notes for the exam, though it’s kinda scary that the whole class hinges on that.
Do or die, I guess. It’s not like I’m not used to this kind of stuff in Pre-law studies and other programs, but it’s still nerve-wracking every time.
I STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend the laptop approach having formerly been in the same camp as you (I had always taken notes on paper before why stop now?) - there's just SO much materials (I would regularly go through more than one notebook per semester) and you get information in an often rambling nature depending on the professor with side notes you have to keep throwing in side notes they mention to - this all adds up to the fact that at end of semester it was nearly impossible to manually find the material and specific things I wrote without Ctrl+F functionality and the ability to copy and paste and reformat after the fact was SUCH an improvement
Also sidenote - before law school you will have to take the LSATs and I recommend taking a course/getting materials because one of the three categories on it are "logic problems" which are things like "A is in position 5, B is between D and F, E is position 4" and crap like that that much like a a Rubik's' cube have a solution that you can learn the process and repeat -- most of my score improvement from start to end of the course was just learning "the trick" to each kind of those questions. In my opinion it's kind of dumb but it is what it is
I had a really good teacher who taught me good university practice in the last year of high school - taking notes using shorthand, just getting as much info down as possible while listening, and then later revising those notes on a computer, using a nice format, some kind of standardised method, etc. It was really good, but it was very limited too. It got me off to a great start (not law school, mind you) as far as learning the core concepts really well because not only was I "writing" everything down twice, i.e. learning it more thoroughly than people who just took notes and then left them on a hard drive, but I would have to actively think about the content because I wasn't just transcribing the notes back on a computer, but I'd be pulling out some information to display in a different format - for instance, a flowchart of events, a timeline, etc.
For later years, there's just no time. But I will offer some more general advice about university: Start your essays as soon as you get them. Most of the time, they're not rehashing work from lectures, but expecting you to go out and independently learn the content, so starting early doesn't mean missing out on content covered in classes. But trust me, the worst place you can be in is doing those 3am crunch sessions because you've mismanaged time.
Stay at the campus to do the work. If you go home or back to a dorm or whatever, you'll open up Word to start pounding away them paragraphs, and you'll see that Steam button there or the Firefox shortcut or some other awful fucking distraction, lurking... Don't give yourself the temptation. Take pen and paper to a library, do the legwork as soon as you can, and get started on that essay the moment you receive it. Better yet, as soon as you have class schedules with work for the semester, print off a calendar that covers the whole semester, stick it somewhere, write down due dates for everything you know, and highlight them. You'll see the big ugly bottlenecks where you suddenly have four things due in one week. If you know that, you'll feel so much more compelled to get work done on day one because you know that you'll be bent over a table and late if you leave it all to the last possible moment.
Yeah, I started watching them my freshman year of high school and now I'm a freshman I'm college
I remember one of the first things if not the very first thing I saw of them was two best friends play SBURB.
That was six years ago.
It's thanks to 2Snacks that I ever heard about them. Back when I considered myself a brony, I caught his Best Sisters Plays videos in either late 2012 or early 2013 and loved them. From then, it's just been one wild ride. I think my first watched LP of theirs was Heavy Rain. That's what got me hooked on these shitlords.
!AGE AT RISK!
I was a baby when I started watching them and now my kids are putting me in a nursing home.
It was a life well lived.
Wish I found them earlier than ~2015, but not being able to understand spoken english was somewhat of an obstacle.
I think I ended up learning a lot, if not most of my english skills from these guys.
I know now why I feel like Hans Moleman on this sub.
Same. I started watching in 2012. I was 26.
Don't let it set in.
I started watching them during my first year of undergrad at university. I finished my PhD three years ago. During my research I was working in a lab in Germany and the internet where I was staying was trash, so I would spend all day downloading videos from youtube using the superfast lab internet so I could watch them in my room later that evening.
It’s true I started in middle school and I’m about to graduate
Gah get off my lawn!
I was here for the first Shitstorm, and that began when I was just starting high school.
Started watching at the beginning of HS.. In college p deep now.
Sometimes I forget that the guys are in their 30s.
Pat is a house owner and the other two are married/engaged. They have mad it farther than I at 30
I always think that they are older than they are.
Woolie is black(ish). He could be 50. Probably is.
To quote Tom Segura "he looks like he's about 33 but you find out that he's 76 years old".
Cheer up, at least you are in no danger of being haunted for the next four months
Yeah, and Pat used to look like he was in his forties, but now he's really getting old and he looks like he's getting into his fifties, it's freaking me out.
It's fine, the Red Bull doubles as formaldehyde
