Why not Holy Guardians (of the Galaxy)

This had probably been asked before, but why is it only materialists and xenophiles who get to be guardians?

It might make sense for the xenophobes to not care if the Galaxy burns. Although it's bafflingly stupid as a long term strategy..

But why not the Holy GUARDIANS? When sleeping they give gifts to the true believers. Awake they wanna save our souls, and they sure get pissy when some foolish materialists commit species wide suicide. Makes no sense to go shrug when all them souls get eaten.

You'd think the Spiritualist fallen empire would eagerly crusade against the Contingency. Maybe it does. I still haven't fought the Contingency.

I fought the contingency as my spiritualist psionic race. A few spawned right in and near my empire. It happened at the same time as the War In Heaven. I steamrolled the spiritualist FE near me, then destroyed the contingency while occasionally raiding the non-aligned planets.

I sided with the xenophile FE in the war in heaven, and they were in my way. I bet it was quite the shock for them when the sky started raining xenomorphs and titanic beasts, lead by a psionic avatar. Also the fact that i later drafted the survivors into my army, using their psionic powers to bolster my troops.
