homage to my muse, pt. 1
in a dance with death
i'm struggling to take the first step
the dance floor has been waxed
but the wine hasn't kicked in yet.
my love, she's having fun,
she loves to dance, but has no favorite song
she's so hard to control
so i try her hips
but to no avail
i've been enslaved by the deep notes
of her burgundy lips.
she pushes me away, to wind me back up
how many times have we rehearsed
practiced
the same steps, the same verse
repetition is childish but
you know my heart is yours.
she says she never wants to be alone
but she ain't got no favorite song
you could dance with anyone, including me
it doesnt take much for anyone
to keep you company
in a dance with death
you always expect the worst
i love you's with a distinct pause
why are you dragging this on?
because the alcohol in my veins
is the culprit of my mistakes.
in our penthouse, the chandelier has fallen.
let it rain.
