Of Terra, Of Toma [Feedback Request]
Of Terra, of Toma
Of all the paths from Kether to Malkuth,
I could not have foreseen the one you asked me
To walk, made of hair and teeth, the sephirot
Which grew to the size of an ice cream scoop
In your pelvis. With every doctor’s fee,
I come face-to-face with that growing rot.
I whispered “if I could” that night, “my dove,
Replace it with milk, sugar cookies, and love,
I would do so in a heartbeat,” so fast,
You might swear there is no beat there at all.
Only a fire, in its powerlessness,
Howling in the dark before the dawn, last
Embers burning out like a dropping pall
Or smoldering yearning I tried to repress.
I saw the moments slipping through my hands,
EKG crashing like waves on dark sand.
Of the markings we made on our bodies,
Yours glow on my chest like crystal water
Maps of where I loved you best, coordinates
In the land of Nod. The angel guardian
Spinning the sun in his hand, your father
Surveying the land -- with every minute
Further and further from Eden we drew,
Sickness wailing like wind as I clung onto you.
